Amazon.com Inc. is set to post its fourth-quarter report Thursday after the market close. The results will give investors a sense of how it fared during the holiday shopping season, which was healthier than the year before.
In October, the Seattle-based online retailer forecast revenue of $8.13 billion to $9.13 billion for the October-December period; analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect $9.0 billion in revenue and earnings of 72 cents per share.
Amazon earned 52 cents per share on $6.7 billion in revenue in the year-ago quarter.
In a recent client note, Jefferies & Co. analyst Youssef Squali said he expects a "strong" fourth quarter. Squali, who rates the stock "Buy" with a $150 price target, is specifically looking for $8.8 billion in revenue and earnings of 75 cents per share.
